Meaning
A masterstroke
Example
Convencê-los de que suas ações eram aceitáveis foi um golpe de mestre.
Convincing them that his actions were acceptable was a masterstroke.
Origin
The expression golpe de mestre is transparent in its imagery: golpe is a stroke or blow and mestre is a master, one who has full command of an art or craft. Together they name a single, perfectly judged move that only true skill could pull off — a masterstroke.
