Meaning
To handle a hot potato / To deal with a tough problem
Example
Restou pra mim descascar o abacaxi, ninguém vai me ajudar!
It's up to me to deal with this tough problem, no one will help me!
Origin
'Descascar o abacaxi' (to peel the pineapple) — pineapple has thorny skin, many eyes and a tough core, so peeling one is fiddly and painful. The image became slang for dealing with a messy task, especially one someone else left for you.
