Meaning
To stick one's oar in / to give one's two cents uninvited
Example
Ela adora dar pitaco em assuntos que não são dela.
She loves sticking her oar in business that isn't hers.
Origin
Dar pitaco means to throw in an opinion nobody asked for. The origin of pitaco is uncertain and debated: language consultants note it cannot be firmly traced, with proposed but unconfirmed links to the Greek sage Pittacus and to the Spanish pitaco ("agave stalk").
