Meaning
To go overboard / To go off the deep end
Example
Na festa de ontem, ele enfiou o pé na jaca e bebeu demais.
At yesterday's party, he went overboard and drank too much.
Origin
The phrase 'enfiar o pé na jaca' is a 20th-century Brazilianism tied to jackfruit ('jaca') — a very sweet, very sticky fruit whose overripe flesh is hard to get off and supposedly ferments into a mild alcohol. To step into a jaca is to get stuck in something messy, usually drinking too much.
