Understanding Impersonal Se

What it does:

Removes specific agent/actor
Focuses on action, not who does it
Creates formal, objective tone
Equivalent to passive voice

English equivalents:

"Houses are sold" → Vendem-se casas
"One speaks Portuguese" → Fala-se português
"Workers needed" → Precisa-se de funcionários
"It is forbidden" → Proíbe-se

Agreement Rules - The Critical Distinction

Rule 1: Transitive verbs AGREE with object

Vende-se casa (singular) - House for sale
Vendem-se casas (plural) - Houses for sale
Aluga-se apartamento - Apartment for rent
