Portuguese has a whole ladder of "yes" — from a neutral sim up to an enthusiastic com certeza!
Plain sim on its own can sound cold, so Brazilians warm it up with claro, com certeza or isso mesmo.

Pois não = Yes / How can I help you? — it sounds negative, but it's a warm yes (you'll hear it across shop and restaurant counters).
Pois sim = Yeah, right — pure sarcasm, the opposite of agreement.
A tag like "Não é?" is fishing for "É!", not "Sim".
Because com certeza is one of the most-used phrases in Brazil, it's also one of the most misspelled: squeezing it into a single word — concerteza — is a classic Brazilian spelling slip, since in speech the two words blur together.
